Maureen Gianni
Maureen Gianni is a self-taught artist. Her passion for art blossomed when she retired in 2022. Gianni was born in Pittsburgh, where she grew up surrounded by creativity and artistic expression. Her mother (Maggie Milono) was an acclaimed professional artist, known for her home studio where she hosted art classes, demos, and workshops. Early on, Maureen joined her mother and fellow artists on plein air outings and to local art shows.
After briefly attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Maureen set out to explore the world, joined Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a flight attendant for two decades. She transitioned to passionate nonprofit work, dedicating herself to cancer organizations for the next two decades.
In 2022, Maureen found the time and freedom to pursue her passion for sketching and painting daily.
Actively involved in the artistic community, Maureen is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Lyme Art Association, the Society for Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN), Washington Art Association, Kent Art Association and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. She meets weekly with fellow artists at the Meeting House Artist Studio Group for communal sharing of her passion.
Maureen has participated in numerous juried exhibition: Mark Twain Library 52 Annual Juried Show, The Richter Art Association’s 44 Annual Juried Art show (Honorable Mention), Society for Creative Arts Newtown Spring Juried Show (Marianne Scanlon Memorial Award). Additionally, her landscapes have been recently exhibited in Lyme Art Association's Expanding Visions Show and New England Landscape Show.
Dedicated to continuous uncovering and exploration, Maureen regularly attends workshops, classes, and art demos. Her art is a reflection of her creativity and openhearted curiosity of the world in which she lives.
